Reflecting on BizAv Transformation in 2024 – 2024 was an interesting year for business aviation marked by strong demand, regional regulatory developments, and changing customer expectations and demographics. Let’s reflect on this transformation and how the year unfolded for our industry.

Increased demand

This year saw a continuation of 2023’s demand with more travellers opting to fly private and more operators reporting increased aircraft utilization. Undoubtedly, more companies and private individuals are choosing to fly privately because of its convenience, flexibility, and security. Travellers’ preferences to avoid commercial airline disruptions and crowded airports would have also played a part in increasing demand for private aviation.

High aircraft turnover

2024 saw global aircraft sales remaining high and OEMs reporting strong demand. Ongoing supply chain issues have also meant longer delivery times and therefore waiting times for certain segments. This also resulted in rising costs in the pre-owned market.

Demand for more personalization

This year saw more interest in business aviation from new customer segments to satiate their appetites for more personalization and increasingly bespoke travel experiences. These new users mainly consist of a younger generation of highly technology savvy entrepreneurs and travellers seeking more seamless trips with more of an emphasis on sustainability.

Global regulatory developments

Sustainable aviation mandates affecting business aviation were a key feature of 2024. For instance, the United States and Europe introduced initiatives that made operators focus on changing regulations and the assurance of international compliance. On a similar note, efforts to streamline the management of air traffic were also rolled out to try and optimize airspace usage, reduce congestion, and boost efficiency.

Looking ahead to 2025 and it’s inconceivable that this transformation will cease… if anything it is likely to escalate further. Here’s to another excellent year for business aviation!
