The heads of state and government members of the G7 states with join German Chancellor Angela Merkel at Schloss Elmau, south of Munich, this June 7-8 for the 41st G7 Summit.
The informal group of leading industrial nations will discuss major global challenges and explore potential ways of coordinating policies to ensure international stability.
The G7 nations include: Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, the United States of America and Canada. The EU is also represented at all G7 meetings.
The theme of this year’s summit is ‘Think Ahead, Act Together’. The nations will explore and discuss their shared responsibility in finding answers to contentious international economic questions.
Immigration
Non-EU passengers:
Some non-EU passport holders are allowed to enter and remain in the European Union for up to three months without a visa. It’s important to check whether your nationality is included in this category prior to your trip. If not, you will need to organize a visa prior to arrival in the EU.
A Passport or EU country ID allows for a stay of up to 90 days without visa.
An extension of stay is possible for visa exempt visitors.
Note: Passports or any passport replacing documents issued more than ten years prior to the date of travel will not be accepted.
Tourists must hold proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay in the EU and those without a return or onward ticket could be refused entry.
EU crew:
A Passport or EU country ID and crew airline ID are required
An extension of stay is possible for visa exempt visitors
Non-EU crew:
A Passport is required
All crew members are required to be listed on a General Declaration and hold an airline identity card
Customs
Import regulations:
Free import to passengers arriving with goods purchased within the EU which are for personal use only.
For tobacco products: 800 cigarettes or 400 cigarillos (max. 3g each) or 200 cigars or 1kg smoking tobacco.
For alcoholic beverages: 10 liters of spirits over 22% or 20 liters of alcoholic beverages less than 22% or 90 liters of wine (no more than 60 liters of sparkling wine) or 110 liters of beer.
For alcohol: 1 liter of spirits over 22%, or non-denatured ethyl alcohol with more than 80% volume or
2 liters of spirits or aperitifs made of wine or similar beverages less than 22% volume, or sparkling wines or liqueur wines or a proportional mix of these products. In addition to this: 4 liters of wine, 16 liters of beer and medicines in proportion to the traveler’s needs. Additional goods up to a total value of EUR 430 per adult and EUR 150 for under 15s is also allowed.
Products of animal origin, not originating from an EU Member State, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino or Switzerland, are not permitted to be imported into an EU Member State, with the exception of limited amounts from Andorra, Faroe Isl., Greenland, Iceland and small amounts of specific products from other countries.
Prohibited: The import of pet birds and poultry and derived products coming from Cambodia, China (People’s Rep.), Hong Kong (SAR China), Indonesia, Japan, Korea (Rep.), Lao People’s Dem. Rep., Pakistan, Thailand and Viet Nam, in connection with Avian influenza infection risk. Also, the import of meat and meat products from: CIS countries, Portugal, Sardinia, Spain, Turkey and all countries of Africa and Asia.

The 41st G7 summit will be held in Schloss Elmau, Bavaria, Germany on June 7-8, 2015. Schloss Elmau is a luxury hotel at the foot of the Wetterstein Mountains, in a nature reserve near the village of Klais lying between Garmisch and Mittenwald in Bavaria.

Traveling from the Airport of Innsbruck in Austria:
To drive to Schloss Elmau by car takes about 45 Minutes.
Taxis charge €90 EUR for up to three and € 100 EUR for four persons.
Traveling from the Airport of Munich, Germany:
Drive to Schloss Elmau on a beautiful highway takes about 1hr 30 Minutes.
