Flight Operations to COP29 Baku The 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) gets underway in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 11-22. 

COP stands for the Conference of the Parties; the annual meeting of the 197 countries that are part of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) set up to address global warming. 

The event will see government leaders and dignitaries from all over the globe descending on Azerbaijan’s capital to negotiate and agree action on how to tackle climate change, limit emissions and halt global warming.

Operational Information

  • Overflight permits are not required for private aircraft with standard Airworthiness Certificate, however, notification is recommended
  • Landing permits are required for private flights
  • Non-scheduled flights: Overflight permits are not required for aircraft with standard Airworthiness Certificate, however, a notification is recommended
  • Landing permits are required for all non-scheduled flights
  • Slot approval must be requested in advance – at least three days prior to arrival
  • The most congested hours at UBBB are generally 0800L-1100L and 1630L-1900L but these are subject to change during COP29
  • UAS offer supply via truck/bowser fuel delivery (Fuel type TS1)
