Here’s what operators need to know about U.S. Customs and Border Protection availability and procedures at three Texas airfields, Addison Airport, Fort Worth Alliance Airport, and Rick Husband Amarillo International.

Addison Airport (KADS)

Permission to land procedure

  1. Pilots must secure permission to land by contacting CBP at least an hour prior to their departure
  2. Permission to land is granted with a tolerance of (+/-) 30 minutes
  3. If the ETA deviates outside those parameters, contact CBP to resecure permission to land

Entrance and clearance hours

  • Inspection services for the entrance/arrival of aircraft at Addison Airport are available Monday to Friday from 1000-1900
  • Commercial aircraft operators departing the U.S. must obtain outbound clearance by contacting CBP directly

Inspection Process

  • On landing, proceed to the Customs Ramp for clearance where the CBP Officer should be waiting for you
  • The officer will invite you to come into the CBP office for processing
  • You will only need your travel documents unless otherwise instructed
  • Regulated Garbage will be handled at the Customs Ramp
  • After the flight is processed you may depart the Federal Inspection Station (FIS)

Please note

  • Recently, Facial Recognition has been implemented at Addison Airport and everyone is now required to go into the CBP office for this type of processing
  • For Saturday, Sunday, and Holiday appointments, contact Addison CBP Officer to secure Landing Rights before 1630 on Friday

Fort Worth Alliance Airport (KAFW)

Permission to land procedure

  • Pilots must secure permission to land by contacting CBP at least an hour prior to their departure
  • Permission to land is granted with a tolerance of (+/-) 30 minutes
  • If the ETA deviates outside those parameters, contact CBP to resecure permission to land

Entrance clearance hours

  • Inspection services for the entrance/arrival of aircraft at Fort Worth Alliance Airport are available seven days per week, 24 hours a day in accordance with the port’s permission to land procedures
  • Commercial aircraft operators departing the U.S. must obtain an outbound clearance by contacting CBP directly

Inspection process

  • All Aircraft operators are required to taxi to the CBP inspection area (the airport control tower can direct you in if needed)
  • The FIS is not attached to the FBO or main terminal
  • A CBP Officer will meet the aircraft on the ramp and begin the inspection
  • All crew and passengers will be processed inside the FIS
  • Have all documents like passports, visas, pilot’s license, medical certificate, and aircraft registration ready
  • Regulated waste/garbage will be collected by the FBO under their Compliance agreement from the aircraft crew
  • Passengers can depart directly from FIS at the conclusion of the inspection

Please note

  • KAFW is staffed Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM –5:00 pm CST
  • For after-hour flights, landing and departure requests must be received no later than 4:30 PM CST
  • For weekend and holiday flights, all landing and departure requests must be made no later than 4:30 PM CST the Friday prior to the weekend
  • For all holiday flights that occur during a weekday, all landing and departure requests must be made no later than 4:30 PM CST on the prior regular workday
  • Advise CBP if transporting live animals, weapons, hunting trophies, or commercial imports

Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport (KAMA)

Permission to land procedure

  • Pilots must secure permission to land by contacting CBP prior to departure at least one business day in advance of the anticipated arrival at KAMA
  • Permission to land is granted with a tolerance of (+/-) 15 minutes
  • If the ETA deviates outside those parameters, you must contact CBP to resecure permission to land

Hours of service

  • Inspection services for the entrance/arrival of aircraft at Rick Husband Amarillo Airport are available Monday-Friday, 0830-1700, excluding federal holidays
  • Commercial aircraft operators departing the U.S. must obtain an outbound clearance by contacting CBP directly

Inspection process

  • There is no CBP office at this airport
  • All flights must clear at Signature Flight Support (FBO) unless otherwise instructed by CBP
  • All crew and passengers will be processed planeside
  • Be prepared to present passports, visas, pilot’s licenses, medical certificates, aircraft registration, etc.
  • Regulated Garbage will be handled by the FBO

Please note

  • KAMA is staffed Monday through Friday from 0830-1700 CST, excluding Federal Holidays
  • For after-hour flights, landing and departure requests must be received no later than 12:30 PM CST
  • For weekend and holiday flights, all landing and departure requests must be made no later than 12:30 PM CST the Friday prior to the weekend
  • After Hours and weekend services are billed for these arrivals by Signature Flight Support FBO under Reimbursable Service Program (RSP) and prior coordination should be made
  • Advise CBP if transporting live animals, weapons, hunting trophies, or commercial imports
