Canadian Grand Prix

The Canadian Grand Prix gets underway from June 5-7, at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, a motor racing circuit located in Montreal, Quebec. Billed as the largest sporting event in the North American country, the race attracts a crowd of approximately 100,000 to the city each year. Internationally renowned for its long straights, the circuit is located on Notre-Dame Island in the St. Lawrence River on the south side of Montreal. Here’s some important information for anyone traveling to Canada.

Canadian Immigration

Non-EU passengers

A visa is required.

Visitors are required to hold proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay and documents required for their next destination, even if they hold a visa.

Non-EU crew

Canada has no agreement with other countries which require members of a crew to obtain visas before entering Canada as crew members. Therefore, crew members who seek entry as or in order to become a crew member, are visa exempt if holding airline crew documents issued in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization specifications and airline joining letters.

EU Passengers

Airport Embarkation Tax

Transport

The distance from the airport to the circuit is 26.26 km, this takes approximately 29-30 minutes in a car.

Metro and Bus

Take the yellow line from Berri-Uqam Metro Station toward Longueuil-Universite Sherbrooke. Get off at Jean Drapeau Station and take the 15 minute walk, alternatively, take the 167 bus to the circuit’s entrance.

Car

From downtown Montreal, take the Jacques Cartier Bridge and exit at Jean Drapeau.
