Operating to South America, Part 2: Colombia, Chile, and Peru

In Part 1 of Operating to South America, we shared the considerations of operating to Argentina and Brazil. This week, our Americas team is sharing its insight on health requirements, permits, and airports in Colombia, Chile, and Peru. Please note that we always recommend seeking the support of a trip support provider with employees on the ground to manage every detail of your mission.

Colombia

Immigration and health screening 

  • Visas are not required for crew
  • U.S. nationals get 90 days of visa-free travel (Ensure passports have at least 90 days before expiration)
  • APIS required using an excel form
  • FAll pax must register online for a digital authorization code through online registration of a Check-MIG form, completed between 1 and 24 hours before departure for Colombia
  • Vaccinated passengers (with final vaccination at least 14 days prior to arrival) are allowed to enter
  • For unvaccinated passengers, a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of departure to Colombia is required (Only PCR tests are accepted)
  • Crew are exempt from PCR tests

Permits

  • No permit is required for a single stop under 48 hours
  • Landing permits are required for more than two stops and/or more than 48 hours (for less than five days)
  • For an over five-day stay, an immigration/customs permit is required (Expect delays for a special process on arrival if landing at SKBO)

Airports of Entry 

  • SKBO – Bogota: 24 hours, busy, no PPR required, parking is available, may issue departure slots with 20 min tolerance. On arrival, expect an anti-narcotics drug check with agents and canines. It takes approximately 20-40 min for the full process for passengers, FBO, VIP lounge, and hangar are available
  • SKCG – Cartagena: 24 hours on request, no PPR required, parking usually available, no slots required. Customs are usually done at the FBO, the passenger processing time is 15 minute on average, FBO, VIP  lounge, and hangar are available
  • SKBQ – Barranquilla: 24 hours on request, no PPR, parking available, no slots required. Customs are usually done at the FBO, the passenger processing time is 15 minutes on average, FBO, VIP  lounge, and hangar are available

Chile

Health screening

  • Crew and passengers are required to validate their vaccine records (the process can take up to 15 days)
  • A negative PCR test result is required for entry and a PCR is taken on arrival
  • Medical insurance with COVID-19 treatment coverage is required for both crew and passengers
  • Visas are not required for crew
  • U.S. nationals get 90 days of visa-free travel (Ensure passports have at least 90 days before expiration)
  • Health declaration must be submitted within 48 hours of arrival
  • Quarantine may apply

Permits

  • Lead time of 24 hours for less than 19 passengers, if more, five days prior

Airports of Entry 

  • SCEL – Santiago: 24 hours, busy, parking available, no PPR or slots required, CIQ can take place at the FBO
  • SCFA – Antofagasta: 24 hours, parking available, no PPR or slots required, all CIQ procedures will take place at the main terminal
  • SCCF – Calama: 24 hours, parking available, no PPR or slots required, all CIQ procedures will take place at the main terminal

Peru

Health screening 

  • A negative PCR test result or valid vaccine record must be presented upon arrival
  • Affidavit Health Declaration is required
  • Pre-registration is required within 48 hours of entry
  • Quarantine may apply
  • The crew is exempt from requirements
  • U.S. nationals get 90 days of visa-free travel (Ensure passports have at least 180 days before expiration)

Permits

  • Landing permits are required
  • Visas are required for crew and can be done on arrival

Airport of Entry

  • SPJC – Lima: 24 hours, busy, PPR is required, parking available, slots are required, all CIQ procedures will take place at the main terminal
  • SPSO – Pisco: 24 hours, parking available, no PPR or slots required, all CIQ procedures will take place at the main terminal
  • SPZO – Cusco: 1100-2300z, parking available, no PPR or slots required, all CIQ procedures will take place at the main terminal
