Flight Operations to the World Economic Forum WEF 2024- The World Economic Forum 2024 gets underway in Davos from January 15-19. 

This year, construction works at Zurich Airport are further limiting operations and parking.  

However, Dübendorf Airbase is located 140 km (about 86.99 miles) from Davos and is a favorable option since its small size makes it less time-consuming for passengers and crew.  

Here’s what operators need to know about Dübendorf and Zurich Airport ahead of WEF 2024.   

Dübendorf Airbase

Operational Information 

• Foreign military aircraft and other state aircraft are subject to a prior permission for overflying Swiss territory or landing at LSMD 
• The diplomatic representation in Switzerland of the State concerned shall submit a written application in fourfold to the Federal Office for Civil Aviation 
• Tax free fuel is available  
• Accurate passenger list is mandatory

Operational Information 

• Zurich Airport is expecting a steep increase in aircraft movements during the WEF and as only limited slots are available during this time, it is highly recommended to reserve slots well in advance to secure the best slots possible for your arrival and departure 
• Parking space is limited at ZRH during the WEF; ground time is restricted to a maximum of 2 hours for the drop-off or pick-up of your passengers in cases where no parking permits are available 
• A maximum of 2 hours ground time is required for the alternate landing of GA flights 
• Aircraft must land before the airport closing time or be diverted to another airport 

Parking 

Long-term parking in Zurich is already fully booked – except if the aircraft is flying with diplomatic clearance. 

We recommend parking at the following airports during WEF: 

• LSZR (St. Gallen-Altenrhein FBO) 
• EDNY Friedrichshafen  
• EDDM (Munich) 
• EDDL (Dusseldorf) 
• EDDB (Berlin) 
• EDDS (Stuttgart) 
• EDDK (Cologne) 
• EDDF (Frankfurt) 
• LOWW (Vienna) 

Please note: LFSB (Basel) – parking is fully booked 

Customs and Immigration  

A maximum of 24 passengers are only permitted for handling and customs, immigration, and quarantine (CIQ) clearance at the FBO.  

For more than 24 passengers, inbound or outbound, they’ll need to clear CIQ within the main terminal along with scheduled commercial passengers. 

CIQ clearance onboard the aircraft is never an option at LSZH, and private vehicles are not permitted on the ramp to drop off/pick up passengers.
