Airport Considerations

What is the airport of entry in Cote D’Ivoire?

The main airport is Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport (DIAP), also known as Port Bouët Airport, in Abidjan.

Are slots required?

Departure and arrival slots are mandatory for all flights and should be requested at least 24 hours in advance.

What is parking like?

Aircraft parking is available. The same operation office allocates parking bays but business aircraft are frequently parked on bay B14, B15, B16 and B17. VIP aircraft are parked on the Presidential bay. Most cargo flights are parked on bay B3 and B4 in front of the cargo section of the airport to facilitate cargo handling.
But a request for a parking bay can be submitted to AERIA and can be approved depending on the traffic at ETA.

What are the operating hours at DIAP?

DIAP is open 24/7. Curfews can sometimes occur during election periods.

What is the busiest time at DIAP?

Peak times at DIAP are between 1700Z to 2330Z.

Operational Information

Are permits required for the Ivory Coast?

Yes, landing and overflight permits are required. A landing permit is needed for both private non-revenue and non-scheduled commercial flights.

What is the lead time for permit approval?

The official lead time is three business days (72 hours). Landing permits are processed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) during normal office hours from Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1600 local. Short notice permit requests may be possible at the discretion of CAA.

Note:
Permit processing by CAA is normally not possible on weekend and holidays.

How long are landing permits valid?

Landing permits are valid for 72 hours. Revisions are not required for passengers or time change within this period. Permits revisions are however necessary for a change of destination or if a passenger/time are not within the 72hour period.
